Yomiuri Giants Return to Adelaide
for second ABL season

The most popular and historic sports team in Japan is once again placing its trust in the Adelaide Giants to develop its emerging talent, confirming a second year of affiliation with the Adelaide Giants 2025-26 Australian Baseball League (ABL) season.

The Yomiuri Giants - Japan's most historic and recognisable sporting organisation - will send four players to Adelaide this season, comprising two position players and two pitchers. The players will remain with the team until Christmas as part of the ongoing collaboration between the two Giants organisations.

"When we talk about the Yomiuri Giants, we're talking about one of the most famous and storied baseball teams in the world," said Adelaide Giants General Manager Nathan Davison. "For them to have the faith and confidence in us here in Adelaide, and trust the process we have in place, is a testament to the relationship we have built."

Among the group is 18-year-old infielder Yusei Ishizuka, widely regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in Japanese baseball.

"It adds credibility to the entire program we have established in South Australia," Davison continued. "It provides us with a different lens on how the game is played, how preparation works, and how we can continue to adapt our thinking.

Japan remains a key strategic market for both the Adelaide Giants and the ABL. In recent years, global stars such as Yusei Kikuchi and Shota Imanaga have played in Australia, further strengthening ties between the two nations' baseball communities.

All Adelaide Giants games will again be broadcast with Japanese commentary on DAZN in Japan, alongside additional coverage on Baseball+.

"Japan is one of the biggest baseball markets in the world, and we are working with the leading team in that market," said Davison. "It opens up so many opportunities given the two-way nature of the relationship. We are dealing with good baseball people who care deeply about the game in both countries--it's refreshing."

To celebrate the partnership and Japanese baseball culture, the Adelaide Giants will host 'Japan Day' at West Beach on December 6.
