Following the successful happy day in November 2024, we are very excited to announce 2025 workshop in Adelaide!
Date: Thursday 26th June, 2025
Time: 10am to 4:30pm
This is a unique collaboration workshop, Art Kintsugi Sydney with Eriko Takefuji, Adelaide-based Urasenke Chado instructor, to bring together two essential traditional Japanese practices based on wabi-sabi and Zen philosophy.
In this full-day workshop, you will be introduced to the history of Kintsugi and Chado (Japanese tea ceremony). In the first four hours you will learn the art of Kintsugi using modern accessible materials, followed by Chado demonstration and Matcha tea tasting with Japanese sweets.
◾︎Learn about Kintsugi
Kintsugi is a century-old Japanese craft where broken ceramic objects are pieced back together using Urushi lacquer and gold dust, an art of mending based on the philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, finding beauty in imperfection, derived from Chado.
◾︎Learn about Chado
Japanese tea ceremony, the way of tea, is a spiritual and aesthetic training to refine oneself and to be present to one’s mind and, most importantly, to make a satisfying bowl of tea for the guests.
