Followed by our successful previous workshops and having received a long waiting list, we decided to organise the third and fourth workshop in this November!
This is a unique collaboration workshop organised and presented by Yoko Kawada, Sydney based Kintsugi artist and Eriko Takefuji, the owner of TAKEFUJI and Urasenke Chado instructor, to bring together the two essential traditional Japanese art and craft based on Wabisabi philosophy.
In this full day workshop you will be introduced to the history of Kintsugi and Chado, 4 hours of hands-on Art Kintsugi workshop using modern accessible materials, followed by Chado demonstration and Matcha tea tasting with Japanese sweets.
Kintsugi
Kintsugi is a century-old Japanese craft where broken ceramic objects are pieced back together using Urushi lacquer and gold dust, an art of mending based on the philosophy of Wabi Sabi, finding beauty in imperfection, derived from Chado.
Chado
The Japanese tea ceremony, the way of tea, is a spiritual and ascetic training to refine oneself, and to be present to own mind and most importantly to make a satisfying bowl of tea for the guests.
Please note ;
+ All tools and materials including a ceramic piece to repair will be prepared by us.
+ For aged over 18.
+ Not recommended for pregnant people.
+ We will be using alternative synthetic materials (epoxy and gold metal)
+ Please let us know if you have a concern of food allergy.
